Richard Cherney is a Senior Partner at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP and one of Canada’s leading advisors in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, corporate governance, private equity, technology and life sciences. He served as Managing Partner of Davies from 2000 to 2015 and was a long-time member of the firm’s Management Committee.
For more than three decades, Richard has advised public and private companies, financial institutions, investment dealers, entrepreneurs and boards of directors on complex transactions, strategic growth, governance and generational transition. His work has included major mandates involving Alimentation Couche-Tard, Air Canada, Airbus, Cominar, CDPQ, Québecor Média, Astral Media, New Look Vision Group, Pharmascience, Bellus Health and eStruxture.
Richard has also served as a director and chairman of several public and private companies. He is currently Chairman of MacKinnon, Bennett & Company and serves on the boards of New Look Vision Group, Ad-Energie/Flo, Developments Orano Inc. and MKB Equity Partners. He is Vice-Chairman of the Montréal General Hospital Foundation.
Richard holds an LLB from McGill University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University.
